- The issue of Glyph registration for ISO (AFII) is dead, although a
glyph registrar still formally exists.
- Does it make sense for TEI to act as glyph
registrar? Maybe. The most promising solution
would be for user communities to handle such glyph
registries in their fields.
- With the Variance Indicator mechanism newly
introduced in Unicode, well established and researched
lists of variants could be incorporated into the Unicode
Standard(although the barriers for this are rather high).
- Codepoints of variance indicators are not
available for users to indicate their own variants. The
TEI Conortium could set aside an area of PUA codepoints
for this purpose if it sees the need for this. (But this
contradicts the stated intention of not recommending the
use of PUA codepoints.)
