The ninth annual meeting of the Text Encoding Initiative Consortium will be held November 9–15, 2009, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The program, organized around the theme “text encoding in the era of mass digitization,” will feature keynote lectures, parallel sessions, the annual TEI business meeting, a poster session/tools demonstration and slam, and special interest group (SIG) meetings.

The University of Michigan Library is a member of the TEI-C and uses the TEI guidelines as the basis of digital text activities in the Text Creation Partnership, Digital Library Production Service, and Scholarly Publishing Office.

The university is located near downtown Ann Arbor, a compact, pedestrian-oriented area fille with restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries, and shops. The city is located close to Detroit Metro Airport, which offers non-stop service to 160 destinations around the world.

This year’s program committee looks forward to establishing an exciting program of conference presentations, workshops, and social events.
